Volunteering

About being a Mencap Volunteer

Volunteering can take many forms as there are many different roles you can take – some people work directly with people with a learning disability  as an activities volunteer or befriender, or you can support Mencap to raise awareness of learning disability through event volunteering.

Most roles are available for people aged 16+ but there is no upper age limit. Offers of help can be for something that will only need you to give up an hour or two, such as helping to set up or clear up the hall for our events, which then leaves carers free to help their members with their activities. It could be that you will be using your professional skills to help with aspects of hall maintenance to ensure that we can continue to host events for our members, teaching computer skills, or using your office skills in preparing promotional material  for advertising of an event.

There are many ways in which you can help.  To find out how to help us, please call 01273 517345 or email us by using our Message page
